"THE LAST LOOK"
PAGE-6
Owned by Dion Giuliano of Kal Koncepts, The "Last
Look" has been called the most photographed minitruck of all time. Check
out the next few pages of never before published build photos, and promo pics
of this highly modified 1986 Toyota, that changed the way minitrucks were
built, and graphics were painted.

With the truck alltogether you can see
how the package works. Basically the judges just went into cardiac arrest
trying to count the mods. What people didnt believe was that the sucker
could drive too,...and like a bat out of hell. You just had to be carefull
about how low you could go when driving,..remember there was a 6 foot
long graphic panel completely covering the underside. Plus without any
inner fenderwells in the engine compartment,..you had a lot of detailing
to do if you ever his a mud puddle at speed! |

Just to be obnoxious,...we left the rear tailgate
handle. Sort of a statement on the standard kustom treatments of the
day. We wanted the Last Look to be something that not only broke the
rules, and began new standards,...it ignored the standards of the day
as well. What drove the competition nuts the most, still holds true
today. The entire truck was built for only $3800 out of pocket money.
Take that Monster Garage! |

Of course what is a kustom without a mural. Murals
in the mid 90's were slowly relegating themselves more to lowriders.
The Last Look brought the mural back into consideration on minis. Still
not a standard, when done right,...murals always increase the interest
factor of any kustom. Especially when they tell a story. This hood told
the story of the truck, and Kal Koncepts throughout the early 90's.
To put it simply,...a lot of people loved the hood,...and a select few
didn't. Perhaps because they were on it!,..heheheheh. Hey,..we're kustom
painters,..not role models. |
